According to Kiev, a Ukrainian cyber attack on a Russian tax system has disrupted the distribution of alcohol in Russia. His government has decided that people in Russia need to be “sober” in the face of “propaganda” spread by the Kremlin, Ukraine’s digital minister and deputy prime minister Mykhailo Fedorov jokingly said on Wednesday at the virtual Paris Cyber Summit, an international conference of cybersecurity experts.
Fedorov did not provide any further information on the cyber attack on the taxation system. According to Ukraine’s Digital Minister, Ukrainian cyberattacks damaged a total of “more than 80 Russian systems”. As an example, he cited the YouTube-like Russian service Rutube, which was shut down earlier in the week, as well as “FSB and Kremlin sites”.
