According to the BKA, the number of ATM demolitions in 2021 was at a similar level to 2020. A focus of the crimes was therefore in North Rhine-Westphalia, but the states of Lower Saxony and Hesse were also affected more often than average. From the last quarter of 2021, the BKA observed a renewed increase in the number of cases. “This trend – as well as the increased use of explosives – has so far continued in 2022.”
