(Montreal) The Montreal Alouettes announced Wednesday that Michael Lionello has been promoted to receivers coach.

Lionello joined the team in January 2020 as an offensive assistant. In 2021, he was part of the coaching staff that allowed the Alouettes to finish first in several offensive categories in the CFL, including net offense (5,205 yards), rushing yards (2,023), first games obtained (296) and time of possession (33:19).

A native of Vancouver, British Columbia, Lionello previously served as running backs coach with the Toronto Argonauts in 2019.

Lionello previously spent three seasons with the BC Lions as quality control coach in 2016 and as running backs coach for the next two years.

The Victoria University alum also served on the Clan coaching staff at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver. He held the positions of director of football operations, running backs coach and video and recruitment coordinator.
