In the US state of South Carolina, a man is accused of strangling a woman. He then wanted to bury her, but died of a heart attack. Police were called to his home because the man was lying lifeless in the yard, reports the US daily Tri-City Herald.

Officers then first found the body of 60-year-old Joseph Anthony McKinnon. During further investigation, the investigators discovered a second body “in a freshly dug pit”. The woman was 65-year-old Patricia Ruth Dent, who lived with McKinnon.

The man is said to have attacked her in the house and then strangled her. “Mr McKinnon tied them up and wrapped them in garbage bags before placing them in the pit he had previously dug,” according to an official. The exact relationship between McKinnon and Dent is unknown.
