In the midst of the jubilation about promotion to the Bundesliga, dramatic scenes took place in the fan block in the Arena at Schalke. A supporter of the club talks about the chaos in the crowd when storming the square and his fear of death.

Fear of death: Serious allegations from a Schalke fan after dramatic moments during the promotion celebrations in the home arena. After the 3-2 win against St. Pauli, thousands of fans of the promoted team stormed the pitch out of sheer euphoria, and people in the fan block were squeezed as a result. One now complains in “Bild”: “I was very afraid that I would die!”

Unknown rescuer: The fan from Essen, 57 years old and regularly at games in the north stand, says: “In my opinion, there were simply far too many people in the stands at this game. It was pure chaos! I was crushed and couldn’t breathe anymore.” The man from Essen then passed out and, according to “Bild”, suffered a chest contusion, among other things. A hitherto unknown pulled him out of the crowd and saved him.

Serious allegation: What he found particularly bad: When the Schalke supporter called the security service for help, the actual helpers only answered with scorn. “I screamed for help at the top of my lungs – but the staff in the orange jackets just burst out laughing. I will never forget this dramatic situation in my life!”
