(Helsinki) Montreal Canadiens forward Josh Anderson has been named the assistant captain of the Canadian team that will participate in the next World Hockey Championship, Hockey Canada announced Thursday.

Anderson, Winnipeg Jets center Pierre-Luc Dubois and Adam Lowry, as well as New Jersey Devils defenseman Damon Severson will all be tasked with assisting captain, Ottawa Senators defenseman Thomas Sculpin.

Canada will meet Germany on Friday in Helsinki for the first match of the tournament’s preliminary phase.

The representatives of the maple leaf will also face Italy, Slovakia, Kazakhstan, Denmark and France in the preliminary phase, before the medal round which will begin on May 29.

Canada are the defending World Cup champions, having defeated Finland 3-2 in overtime last year.
