(Calgary) Legendary hockey player Hayley Wickenheiser will be inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame, the organization announced Thursday.

Wickenheiser participated in the Olympic Games six times and won four gold medals, unprecedented feats that contributed to the development of women’s hockey in the country.

Wickenheiser will be part of the 2022 class along with kayaker Adam van Koeverden, soccer player Dwayne de Rosario, lacrosse player John Tavares and para-swimmer Tim McIsaac.

Commentator Brian Williams, Canadian Olympic Committee President Tricia Smith and Edward Lennie, “the father of the Northern Games”, will also be honored as builders.

The Chatham Colored All-Stars baseball team and the Preston Rivulettes women’s hockey team will also be celebrated as trailblazers.
