The 82-year-old woman who was found dead on Wednesday afternoon in Los Cristianos, in the municipality of Arona, was Galician and was spending a few days on vacation in the south of the island with her husband, confirmed the Government delegate in Canary Islands, Anselmo Pestana, in ‘Cope Canarias’.
The events occurred in the mid-afternoon of this Wednesday, at 4:30 p.m., when the National Police agents were mobilized to a house through a neighborhood call to 112 and found the body of the woman, with stab wounds, with her husband and alleged murderer.
The 84-year-old man is in police custody in a health center to recover from his injuries and Pestana acknowledges that “everything indicates” that it is a case of sexist violence, although he has insisted on being “cautious” even to waiting for the investigation to be completed.
The Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Institute of Equality, has activated the DEMA protocol for attention to victims and a minute of silence has been observed in the Cabildo de Tenerife as a sign of rejection.
