Actor Christopher Walken will play the role of the Emperor in the second part of Dune, which Denis Villeneuve is due to shoot in the fall, reports Deadline.
Sources have confirmed to the trade outlet that the 79-year-old actor will be joining an all-star cast including Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Zendaya, Josh Brolin, who will reprise their roles, as well as Florence Pugh and Austin Butler, who will star. their arrival in the new film. Christopher Walken, seen in dozens of plays, TV shows and movies since the 1950s, was once an Oscar winner for his supporting role in The Deer Hunter (1978).
The Legendary studio declined to comment on Deadline’s information. It is nevertheless certain that Denis Villeneuve will be back to write the screenplay, in the company of Jon Spaihts, and to direct this second film based on the work of Frank Herbert. The sequel to Dune is set to hit theaters on October 20, 2023. The first installment, released last October, grossed over US$400 million at box offices worldwide.
